The
Quartermaster Shop- where we spend the better part of our lives.
Well, it seems like it sometimes! Doing historical research on
original garments and sewing reproduction clothing for over 30 years, kind of
gives you the idea we plan on being around for a while, doesn't it?
We'd like to add your name to the long list of satisfied QUARTERMASTER
SHOP customers! Call or e-mail us today! |

To
give you an idea how things work here at the QUARTERMASTER SHOP, let's take a
walk thru a typical order from a nice person, such as you! At left, Linda
enters an order after discussing the details with a customer. Linda has been
with us for over 20 years and is one
of the knowledgeable people who handle our telephone orders. If you call
in, there's a good chance you will get to talk with this wonderful lady. |
| Your order is taken to the
pattern layout and cutting department. At right, Kay (in the
purple sweater) and DJ discuss a special pattern alteration requested by the
customer. Kay has been with us for over 23 years and manages the
production floor, along with the layout and cutting of specialized garments as
seen here. She also finds time to answer the telephone with a friendly
attitude. We are sure lucky to have her! |

 Besides the many
custom "one of a kind" orders we get from individuals, we are
proud to cut and sew for several well known dealers around the country.
Using the large knife you see in the picture at left, Bobbi cuts 16
US Greatcoats at one time. Quality cutting is very
difficult and Bobbi, with over 14 years experience, is one of the best. In fact, careful cutting is
one reason why our clothing fits so well. By laying up 60 layers of
fabric, we can cut up to 60 of the same size garment at one time!
This volume cutting lowers the amount of labor involved in the cutting
operation. Lower labor costs equal lower uniform costs. It's
that simple. |
After cutting, your order goes to one of our talented seamstresses
for "rough in"- sewing the outside body and the lining. Here, Ann is sewing a Confederate
Shelljacket. Ann, who has been with us for 13 years, turns out some of the beautiful greatcoats, jackets and
shirts that we are known for, plus cravats and chevrons! As you might
suspect, this keeps her quite busy. |

After "rough in", the garment goes to the
pressing area to have all the seams pressed open. This pressing operation
takes quite a bit of time, but it gives each garment the quality look that is
our trademark. Here, Judy is
pressing a pair of trousers for one of our customers. Judy has been with
us for over 7 years. She handles much of the pressing (ironing) and is learning to
sew several different garments. |
The garment then goes back to the
sewing area for more detailed trim work. Here Melissa, with 15 years
service, is putting the
finishing touches on a US Artillery Shelljacket collar. Melissa has a sharp eye
for quality and detail. She sews many of our US and CS Officer uniforms. |

A busy shop is a happy shop! Several sewing
stations are shown here with garments in various stages of completion. |
Finally, the order is finished and goes to the
shipping area. Gayle has checked all the final details and is folding one of our Berdan
Sharp Shooter Uniforms in preparation for
shipment. Gayle handles our book keeping and helps out when we get super
busy with any number of tasks. |

Russ
has been with us for 4 years. Here he is assembling catalogs.
Russ is one of those people who can brighten a work day with his
friendliness and smile. How lucky can we get? |
