#4645 M-1846 Mounted Rifles Trousers: A new branch of service was
authorized for the Army in 1846– the Mounted Rifles.
The trouser adopted (shown at left) was dark blue wool with a 1-1/2”
black wool stripe edged with yellow cord piping. This
trouser design was
authorized for all
ranks of officers and enlisted men of the Mounted Rifles branch.
All trousers are fly
front with side seam pockets and have the reinforced double seat for
riding. Split back with cord tie for
adjustment. Pewter buttons are sewn on for double
button suspenders. Made
in USA!
By Regulations, wool trousers were
to be worn from October 1 thru April 30. From May 1 thru September 30,
white cotton duck trousers were to be worn.
This garment is custom made
