The 1852 US Marine Regulations state enlisted Marines will wear an overcoat of blue-grey mixture (called Cadet Grey today) with stand up collar; single breasted with one row of seven large Marine buttons on the breast, loose sleeves with turn up cuffs. Circular cape to button with five small Marine buttons. Cape to be made separate from the coat and to button on. Non-commissioned officers shall wear the chevrons of their grade as prescribed for the full dress coat at the cuffs.
We install a black heavy cotton drill lining in the body area to help keep the elements off the upper body. Marine buttons are supplied loose. Made in the USA! Some Marine historians feel that enlisted Marines were issued Army Sky Blue Overcoats during the war, since the Cadet Grey color could appear to make this a Confederate Overcoat.
All US Marine uniforms are custom made for each order. Please allow 6 weeks for delivery. Because custom orders are not returnable, please visit our measurement page, and submit your measurements when you order.
