Per USMC Regulations, on the Sky Blue Wool trousers only, Officers and NCO ranks Sgt Major, QM Sgt, Drum Major, Chief Musician and Musicians were to wear a 3/16" scarlet welt in the outseam. Privates, Corporals, Sergeants and First Sergeants wore trousers without any rank trim.
Enlisted Marines were issued wool trousers in Sky Blue- same color as the Army for Fall, Winter and Spring wear. For Summer, White Cotton trousers were issued. Side seam style pockets and the split back with cord tie adjustment are standard on the wool trousers. Back belts with buckle for adjustment are optional.
Black buttons for fly and suspenders are supplied, but not sewn on. The double front buttons for suspenders on each side is standard.
