Our Union kepi for enlisted men is made from our quality 20 oz dark blue wool and is cotton lined. It has a leather brim, sweatband and adjustable chinstrap with brass slide and US Eagle side buttons.
The design of this cap stayed the same until 1872, when modifications made the cap slightly shorter in height. At that time the taller M-1861 Forage cap (often called "feedbag") was discontinued altogether and this style cap became the standard US Forage Cap.
