John Bell Hoodserved first as a Brigade commander (i.e. Hood's Texas Brigade), then a divisional commander in the Army of Northern Virginia. He later commanded the Army of the Tennessee as a Lieutenant General. The 1862 Frockcoat General Hood wore as a Brigadier General is shown in the photo at left with our reproduction below it. This Double Breasted Frock is made in Cadet Grey wool with buff piping on the cuffs, front edges and tail flaps. The solid buff collar features Gold 5 point stars with black edge with the center star being slightly larger in size. The collar is without the typical general's wreath following Hood's original coat collar. Sash shown in photo is optional. Black Cotton Lining with Natural Sleeve linings, Texas State Seal buttons are sewn on in 4 x 2 Regulation arrangement, Four rows of gold sleeve braid with a high point, three small buttons on the closed cuff for decoration.
