Although the Confederate Marine Regulations were lost in the fire in Richmond late in the War, a few surviving photos help us offer two distinctive versions of the frockcoat worn. One version was worn by 1st LT Murdoch (our repro shown at far left), the other by 2d LT Doak (shown at near left). For the most part, CS Marine Officer's frockcoats followed the basic Army design. The sleeve braid on Murdoch's coat is standard height and the colored piping is only on the cuffs and bottom of the collar. LT Doak's sleeve braid is taller and has colored piping down the front, surrounding the collar and cuffs. Doak's front button flap is wider- see picture enlargment.
Either Medium Grey or deluxe Cadet Grey wools with black or dark blue piping may be chosen. Lined in cotton- see lining color choice box.
LT Murdoch wore Shoulder Knots, LT Doak did not. If you would like to order these, attaching hardware is included but not sewn on the shoulders. Lieutenant's receive 1 row of gold sleeve braid, Captains 2 rows.
