#8540 M-1885 FOOT TROUSERS (please scroll down for mounted version.)In 1885 the US Army adopted a
somewhat darker shade of "sky blue" for enlisted trousers and greatcoats.
Often called Medium Blue, it is closer to a Royal Blue in color. The Army Uniform Board hoped this would eliminate the wide variations in color that existed in the lighter Civil War era sky blue wool. Reports indicate that for the most part, even dye lots of this new color varied greatly. Our Model 1885 enlisted trousers are made
from this new Medium Blue 20 ounce field service wool.
Made in the USA!The actual construction details are the same as the model 1884 trousers. Foot style trousers may be worn by Cavalry troops not on horse.
